I think the general awkwardness that was a part of every social and athletic encounter was the worst part of middle school. I think I tripped over my own feet at least 10,000 times during my seventh grade year, in which I grew from 5’0″ to 5’7″.

    All of it.

    Gym class…nightmare!

And just the other kids in general. At that age, everyone’s just a big ole ball of hormones and thus, really stupid for the most part. I’m so happy I never have to be 13 again.

I agree, the awkwardness and gym class.

The gym uniforms. The school colors and mascot (green/gold hornets). The fashion, the dances. Yes a very very awkward time. Great my daughter starts middle school in two weeks. That’s it I am quitting my job and home schooling her! I can’t put her thru it I love her too much.

Wow, I actually liked gym at my middle school. It was more recess than gym, and often the gym teacher would let us listen to music. We could bring cassette tapes and play them on outside play days, and I have good memories of listening to License to Ill while playing volleyball.

What I liked least is the way everyone changed in middle school. Suddenly all the girls were MEAN. I always remember middle school as much more harsh than high school.

For some reason i remember freshman year being the worst-I think my awkwardness peaked that year…

I think women go through the awkward phase early. A lot of guys are still in their awkward phase in their late twenties! I guess we just need a lot of time to figure things out 🙂

Insert obligatory “of course, women are smarter, better, stronger, faster” comment here….

I don’t remember anything necessarily being an awkward. Besides in 8th grade when I had to carry around a pillow for my back since I’d just had spinal surgery. Everyone looked at me like I was weird. But, I got out of class ten minutes early to get to my next class “early.”

I didn’t really stay up too late, 10 (an hour later than usual). However, I did wake up at 12:38 to a very upset baby boy who is teething. Nothing would calm him down but a tight bear hug and twinkle twinkle in the rocking chair for 30 minutes. Poor guy!

i was up pretty late-2 i think-our hard drive crashed and we lost some recent pictures, so i was saving what i could off of myspace, and then just started looking at old pictures and enjoying all the memories and lost track of time.
