Sweet potatoes. And if those aren’t there, then I’m out of luck. 🙂 I don’t like casseroles or weird foods…I’m straight up meat (with no dressings or sauces, please) and maybe some veggies, and definitely sweet potatoes. 🙂

If it’s a holiday, then it’s my aunt’s sage dressing….sooooo frickin good! For just a regular potluck, I love the cheesy potatoes. Basically anything with cheese on it is good.

I am not fond of casseroles either, but there always seems to be fried chicken at a pot luck. That would be my choice. Macaroni and cheese is ok too.
I keep thinking how fattening pot luck food usually is – I can’t think of a single good-for-you pot luck item. However, I have been to a pot luck where everyone brought healthy food, and it wasn’t good. Apparently casseroles must either be unhealthy or disgusting – there is no middle ground.

We’ve attempted healthy potlocks here in the office, and it just turned out to be 18 people bringing salad. And not even good salad, like out-of-the-bag salad. And you’d think at least one person would think “Hmm, I bet a bunch of people bring salad. Maybe I should bring dressing as my item…” But no.

What a fantastic mental image. 18 people with salads, but no dressing. It sounds very sad.

I’m a big fan of carbs, so any kind of pasta or potato is right up my alley. I don’t ever bring these items into my home, so it’s a real treat to eat someone else’ rendition of these foods.

I also love cole slaw and kosher dills…though I doubt anyone would consider pickles a “side item.”

Not pickles alone, but a tray of pickles, olives and other assorted jar items totally count! Mini corn anyone?

Anything my Mom takes. People usually try to line up at the table with Her food. Usually just an empty pan when I make it through the line. So I get my piece of KFC and some Lays Potato chips and head to the desert line. Where I get a double portion of Her award winning cake.

i love to bring fruit or veggie trays, with homemade dip, to pot lucks. usually there is so much “unhealthy” food at potlucks that people get pretty excited about fruits and veggies.
i’m usually a fan of the cheesy potatoes as well…or green beans if they’re doctored up right (like my grandma makes them with bacon, onions, and a pinch of brown sugar!)
the thing i like least is most pasta salad. i’ve had some that are awesome, but most are terrible….yet i still try them.
man, i hate how sick and full i always feel after potluck meals!
