Question of the Day:

If you could bring back an old TV series (Pre-1990s) what would it be?

It would be a tossup between Alf, Perfect Strangers, and Cheers.

Oh for the days of good TV.

  2. Emily said,

Ooh, I second Perfect Strangers. I loved that show.

Pre-90s? Damn. I was gonna say Arrested Development. I’m gonna go with Reading Rainbow.

Quantum Leap, hand’s down. It started in the 80’s so it counts.

Magnum PI! I love that show.

I’ve got to go w/ MacGyver as my #1 w/ A-Team, Knight Rider (or just give me the NEW one back!!) and Quantum Leap as close 2nds.

    • Nicole said,

Totally agree. I loved the new Knight Rider and want it back!

  7. Samkon said,

    Reading Rainbow!! Good call Kelly!

But you don’t have to take my word for it.

  8. Amber said,

    Reading Rainbow was indeed awesome.
I really enjoyed reruns of Mork and Mindy when I was a kid…not sure if it should come BACK, but… man, most of the shows i would want back are 90s shows. Anyone a Daria fan? “find out tonight on… SICK, SAD, WORLD!”

    Did X-Files start pre-90s?
OH, OH, how about Bob Ross!

btw adam, u spiffed up the place!

    • nattya61 said,

Nope, X-Files started in Sept. ’93. I’m just hoping they make another movie, but the last one did pretty bad at the box office so it’s doubtful.

      Loved Daria!!

    • Samkon said,

I think he said pre-1990s because, television changed forever in 1993.

Gotta love Walker…cause if you don’t he’ll kick your ass.

The show Square Pegs was pretty cool, in my memory at least. I believe it only lasted for a season, and there were many things on that show that I loved. But I was also 10 years old at the time, so I may not have been the best judge of quality.
Which is sort of the problem. All the shows I loved as a kid now seem very silly to me: Kids Incorporated, The A Team, Knight Rider, Dukes of Hazzard.
How about Saturday morning cartoons? I vote for bringing back cartoons on Saturday morning on the major networks. Wonder Twin Powers, activate!

Good ole duke boys, always getting into trouble!

I remember the Dungeons and Dragons cartoon on Saturday mornings. I never missed an episode. As far as a television show at night, I would have to say “Amazing Stories”. I liked how they had three, maybe four stories per show. One of my all time favorites from the 80’s was “The Wizard”.

    • agrimeyhippie said,

I don’t remember any of those shows! I feel like I’m missing something!

    • Shannon said,

Ooh, Amazing Stories! I forgot all about that show! They could definitely bring that one back. Amber, you totally are missing out with Amazing Stories.

      • agrimeyhippie said,

        Apparently!

      • Shannon said,

I have added TV shows to my Netflix queue today as a result of this conversation.

Fraggle Rock and The Adventures of Gummi Bears…I would love for Kael to have some cartoons that are actually good. Ben 10 and Handy Mandy…Seriously? Ick! I have to watch Cartoon Network to find out what toys my niece and nephews want and I cringe. I’m tempted to buy these series on DVD and the old school Sesame Street just so I can enjoy the shows, too! 🙂

    • Megan said,

It’s a rare week that I DON’T come home at least one day to find Katie and Todd watching OLD Scooby Doo or Bugs Bunny on vhs or the dvr. 🙂 MUCH better than Sponge Bob for sure!!!
