The Pains of Being Pure at Heart – Young Adult Friction

Question of the Day:

What makes you laugh in your gut – I mean really laugh?

  1. Emily said,

Warning! This is a kid post.
Lately, it’s been Jonah laughing. He just really started laughing this week, and when I laugh it makes him laugh. It’s a vicious, hilarious cycle, and I love it.

No worries, those of us without kids will sit and cry in our cubes, and then think of something else less awesome than the laughter of a child to make us bust a gut.

  2. Nicole said,

I’m with Emily. Hearing Kael’s laughter, or seeing him make a funny face, I am rolling. Or, the other night when I was watching Glee and Push It was performed, I was laughing so hard I was crying, and Kael woud look at me with this funny “What’s going on?” face and then he’d start laughing really hard, and then stop, give me the face, and then start laughing really hard again. I can’t get enough of him, nor talk about him enough. 🙂 As I’m sure a few of you know. 🙂

The endless futility and monotony of repetitive, mediocre daily living. I find it painful, depressing, and yet somehow hilarious.

That and lol cats. “My baloney has a first name. It’s nom nom nom nom nom.” That one really got me.

    Thinking about the following things:

    – The “Who Needs a Movie?” video on YouTube
    – The “ass-upon-ass” lady (Adam, I know you haven’t forgotten)
    – My nephew’s life mission to make the cat dizzy
    – My boyfriend, dressed in full viking gear, in battle pose, in the back of a pickup truck playing “Take On Me” by Aha, making a grand entrance on our float trip.

  5. agrimeyhippie said,

-our crazy friends and their crazy activities or stories
-anytime our cats chase things, or fall off the bed and pretend it was on purpose
-the hilarious email I got this morning
-yes, lolcats and the description Kelly shared of her BF at the float trip-whaaa?
-the tweets I get from some writer who calls himself “fireland”
-even just THINKING about the scene from The Whitest Kids You Know where the guy throws his shoe and shirt out of the helicopter, the “weird the stripper skit”, or where they sell water balloons and fun noodles from a booth in the old west
-the show It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia
-Seth McFarland and Kevin Smith most of the time
-giving a 7 yr old little girl a bag of apples and listening to her scripted goofy sales pitch about how they were CFC free and dolphin safe apples at a festival-she made $30! it was hilarious to watch ppl digging in their pockets. even funnier, she used her profit from selling healthy apples to buy candy bars!
    -Tom Waits
    -my own stupid mistakes

  6. agrimeyhippie said,

THIS just made me laugh out loud!

  7. Shannon said,

    – I’m trying to imagine what’s going on with the apples that are not dolphin safe. Many of those thoughts are belly-laugh worthy.
    – The face my cat makes when I make her dance. There’s something about the composure and dignity of a cat that makes us want to humiliate them.
    – The web sites and Belly-laugh is intensified by the fact that I’m usually looking at these in some place where I am supposed to be quiet.
    – My niece and my nephews. I don’t know how these kids learned to be so funny. Apparently it’s a survival instinct in our family.
    – My mom. One of the funniest people I know.
    – This history of the world composed of student errors:;col1 By the time I get to the death of Julius Caesar, it’s all over.

  8. Megan said,

Have to agree w/ Shannon’s “overheardattheoffice” being very belly-laugh worthy. Marlo shared w/ me another funny site… and a great way to spend a Friday afternoon, if you need a break.

And always – Katie and Allee never fail to make me laugh… if only at myself.

Ditto on Seth MacFarlane, Kevin Smith, and Bryan mentioned the Family Guy spoof on Wilford Brimley today (“Who did I hit?!”) and I laughed and laughed. I so have a crush on Seth MacFarlane.

Yes, Nicholas cracks me up too.

    • agrimeyhippie said,

ditto on the crush on seth mcfarlane!

  10. Kel/y_H said,

And the time Cathy described her organizational behavior by announcing “I have piles” about 10 minutes after the organizational behavior conversation ended.
