Camp? That’s outside, right? Nature and dirt and stuff. Yeah, I don’t do that.

You never went to youth camp, 4H? Scouts? Brownies? Nothing!?!?

      • nattya61 said,

No. There were ususally lakes in such places…and people who would have made me try to get in one. And that’s just unsanitary. 🙂

I have purchased cookies from a Girl Scout a few times.

    Ha! You guys are funny.

I really hate playing games. I was pretty shy in groups. I did, however, LOVE all the art/craft parts of camp. This girl loves to make things with popsicle sticks! 🙂

I loved church camp growing up. I went there every year I can remember. And, my church actually bought a camp up past Macks Creek, MO. It’s called Camp Cherry Mountain and it’s my home away from home. I worked there for three summers, as a counselor/life guard/concession stand girl. My favorite game was when the BBC Rec. Team would come up and lay out this huge blue tarp, put soap all over it, and then water…And you have a HUGE water slide. OR, when “The Judge” would pick out the kids that were the absolute worst that week, and build a creation on their head. One year I purposely was awful, and he made a cake on my head. It was amazing. I love, love, love camp. I can’t wait for my kids to go, and I’ll probably go with them. 🙂 LOVE IT!

I’m not into games. I DID love church camp tho.

I think when I was really young we just hung out in the cave-i went to a church camp that had a cave with the largest mouth in the world, or country, or Missouri-I’m not sure which. It was our favorite place to hang out. I think there were also swings,a nd swimming pool. I vaguely remember lots of cartwheels and back-bend walkovers.

When I was older I went to a camp in Colorado! My favorite game was praying that the organized sports would get rained out so we could go wandering around free in the foothills in the afternoons (and they almost always did. softball, ewe). It was so beautiful! We also got to drive into Denver one day that we were there and eat at Casa Bonita’s, and another day we hiked up Devil’s Head (a peak just a few miles from Pike’s Peak).
Nothing like an 18 hour busride to, um, bring a bunch of teenagers “together”!
I think everyone who agreed to be counselors on those trips was crazy!

I cannot actually remember a single camp game.
What I remember most is that they taught me how to build a camp fire. I was a bit of a firebug as a kid, and had wondered how you went from a lit match to a burning pile of sticks. They taught me the A-frame fire structure, and I was unstoppable from that point on. I made A-frame fires every chance I could get, which basically meant whenever I could get away from adult supervision for a while.
I nearly caught my dad’s field on fire this way. I didn’t clear the area well enough and all the dry weeds started to catch fire. Fortunately, the Girl Scouts also taught me how to put out a fire.

        http://www.casabonitadenver.com/
it’s dream land for a kid-there are caves, and arcade games, and i don’t remember what all-i just remember it being tons of fun.
        OH, and their sopapillas! yum!

      • amber said,

who wants a field trip now to denver?

    • nattya61 said,

You know…I think I’ve been there. On our senior ski trip to Colorado (no, I didn’t not enjoy the actual “skiing” part…just to go with my theme on the rest of this thread). The food was great!

      • Nicole said,

Well, I know what Casa Bonita is. It’s got good food. 🙂 We went there on our family vacation this year. I thought she meant it was an actual game.

I’m gonna have nightmares reading all of these and thinking about the bugs and dirt. I need a shower now.

Amber, I saw a commercial the other day and David Duchovny is going to be on an episode of Extreme Makeover Home Edition this season…yeah, I know. How weird is that? I’m not a fan of that show really, but you’d better believe if he would have been the guest at the one here in Springfield, I soooo would have stalked that set every day! You know that man is easy. 😉

    • amber said,

lol. u mean that man is a recovering “sex addict” but yeah… ha!

      • nattya61 said,

        “Recovering.” Haha!!

Yes, I had a lot of fun when that story broke that he was in rehab.
