Well, it’s only a year old, but going to look at the Plaza lights and watching Santa Claus Conquers the Martians (the MST3K version) on Christmas Eve.

Christmas Eve dinner at my Mom’s. Before we do the massive family stuff on Christmas Day, we have that Christmas Eve dinner with just my sisters, the kids, the spouses. Immediate family only. She cooks a non-traditional dinner on Christmas Eve, so we have prime rib. Yum!

Christmas Pie — my grandmother would wrap little stocking stuffer type gifts and attach long strings to each one and place them in a bowl with a towel over the top. We would all stand in a circle and she would stand in the middle holding the bowl up high and we would each grab a string and on the count of 3, pull.

For years it has been ham and beans with cornbread and homefried spiral cut potatoes at my uncles. My sister is hosting this year-I may need to make the request .

Oh, and my aunt’s “dip your own” cookies. One year she didnt’ have time to ice them, so she just sat the containers of homemade frosting out. It was heaven, and we’ve been doing it ever since!
