Good morning and Merry Christmas to you all! This week we get to find out the gender of our little baby, which is incredibly exciting. We got our first little baby gift in the mail which is a classic stuffed Pooh Bear and I love it! My aunt Margie sent it to us for the little one. So fun!

I pray that you all get to enjoy some quality time with your friends and family this week. It is nice to be close to the ones who know us the best. That know each of our flaws, mistakes, and successes and love us despite them. This is the time of year where we get to give generously, and put our hope in something much bigger than our own lives.

I hope you get the chance to ponder where your life is, and where it is headed in this next year. I am excited for new changes, some things that are constant, and of course a fun community of friends who love good questions and fun answers.

Go tell it on the Mountain – Desert Noises

O Holy Night – Sufjan Stevens

Duvall – Angels we Have Heard on High

Question of the Week:

What does Christmas mean to you?

To me, Christmas means cozy…and cozy = family, food, hugs, and sweaters.

It is the day when God put on skin so that my sin could be atoned, and I could be reconciled with Him. It is the day when God, himself provided a propitiation so that I would not have to face His Holy wrath.

Agreed, though I have never liked the word propitiation.

A few years ago, my church started observing Advent. It’s a very old tradition in the church that celebrates the coming of Jesus for four Sundays leading up to Christmas. There is a scripture reading and daily thought for each day. I like it a lot. It’s a way to join with millions of other Christians in a daily focus on Jesus.

We also have a yearly Christmas service in a barn. A real barn. To highlight the fact that when God came to earth, he came delivered through the womb of a teenage girl into the most unsanitary environment possible, and hardly anyone noticed. Seems like a strange way to save the world.
