Public Enemy: Apocalypse 91… This was the first CD I bought after receiving a CD player for my birthday in ’92 (they were still relatively new inventions back then to the poor folk). I played that CD over and over until I memorized every song. Public Enemy was huge on the south side of Chicago. Everyone I knew loved them, and so did I.

I am still pretty partial to Jay-Z’s “Hard Knock Life: Vol. 1” because it one of the first ones I ever had. I bought I was a real BAMF when I listened to the that and the black album back in the day. Sadly, I lost Hard Knock Life Vol. 1 somewhere along the way. Then, one day last summer, what should I find whilst garage saling in Johnson County, but a nice scratched-up CD of Hard Knock Life Vol. 1. It was worth every penny of that fifty cents.

I’m not really a fan of rap. It’s just not my thing. I do still have a soft spot in my heart for Please Hammer Don’t Hurt ‘Em, though.
