Question of the Day:

Who is your favorite foreign band or musician? (that sings in a non-English dialect)

    Sigur Rós.

Or Menudo. They did the Cannonball Run song.

  2. Kel/y_H said,

Movits! It’s a Swedish band that does swing/hip-hop. I highly suggest.

For full-on foreign language I’d have to go with Bleach03, which is a thrashcore Japanese girl band. If they ever speak in English, I am not aware of it.

If I include bands that sometimes sing in English, it’s nearly impossible to choose just one. Pizzicato Five, The 5678’s, Peelander-Z, or anything off of the Katamari Damacy soundtrack.
    So, yeah. I like J-Pop a lot.

Great DBT song by the way.

I have to go with Apocalyptica, the Finnish cello metal band. They have had a rotating cast of vocalists, but what I love is the music, especially without vocals. Those guys get more out of classical strings than anyone else I’ve ever heard.

Sigur Ros, I will have to second that.

    Random bands I still own:

    Rammstein, and Puya

    • spochran said,

Ah Rammstein. Brings back memories of going to goth/industrial nights with my friends. Du! Du hast! Du hast mich!

      • enochfreeman said,

Yeah. It’s a shame that their lyrical content gets more and more reprehensible as their musical quality gets better. Kind of frustrating.

      • spochran said,

I have to admit that I don’t know many of their songs. My exposure to them is solely through the goth nights, and I honestly don’t know what most of their songs are about.
But then, it’s German industrial metal. I’m pretty sure it’s not about Jesus and flowers. 🙂

    Yaye for DBT!
They will be in Columbia soon-hoping to go.
I heard an awesome song at the end of a movie the other day, and it had non-english lyrics. I can’t remember who it was tho, and when i searched for it online i had no luck finding it. alas, it’s lost forever because i don’t remember the movie either!
i’m typically very lyric driven in my musical selections, so while i can appreciate the music, i usually enjoy it less if i can’t understand the lyrics.
